Taking part

Steps to taking part in Pedal in Preston Park

Register in advance

Register in advance by filling out the online registration form or alternatively contact Antonia on 01273 964200 or email antonia.shepherd@martlets.org.uk . Please be aware that you don't have to decide right now how many laps you wish to do as an individual or a team; however, registering in advance helps us to anticipate the number of participants likely to be taking part. The registration fee is £12 per adult and £5 for U16's and free for carers who are not participating.

Set up sponsorship

Set up your Virgin moneygiving sponsorship page - make sure Pedal in Preston Park is in the title of the event. There are loads of helpful tips and guidelines on the Virgin moneygiving website to create your own page and content. If you prefer to fundraise offline then please download and print a sponsorship form. You can always do both. We are raising funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Martlets.

Set your goal

Set your personal, family or team distance goals - one lap of the cycle track is 600m (or 0.37 miles).Last year there were PPYCC cyclist who did 200 laps - that is 120 km!

Check your bike

Check that your bike is in good working order, along with those of any other friends or family members taking part. Mechanics will be available to do safety checks and minor repairs on the day. Be sure to bring your helmet - without it you cannot take part.

Training

If you have set yourself a challenging mileage to achieve, then try to get in a few training days before the big event - Preston Park cycle track is free to ride on every day (unless a meeting has been booked). Build up gradually to your target distance.

On the day

From 1pm onwards the track is available to all riders. Click here to download a briefing sheet.
